MY ASSOCIATION WITH LODGE PANDYAN – W.Bro. A Watt

Although none of my immediate family had Masonic connections, I had formed a favorable impression of Masonry and resolved to join if the opportunity arose. In India, I found many expatriates were Lodge members, yet I was never approached. When I asked W.Bro. Tom Hambleton why, he explained that Masons never solicit members—one must ask.
To my great joy, Lodge Pandyan accepted me, and I was initiated in October 1955. But shortly after being raised, I was transferred to Ambasamudram. My first years as a Mason were sparse—only 5 or 9 meetings in four years. Under Wor. Bro. Duncan Fraser’s strict guidance, I struggled to progress, even forgetting some rituals.
